River/town (anachronism) (2007)
speculative analysis by Rivermeandersgroup (JLH, Brody Neville, Laura Swartz, Denis Troitskii, James Utterback)

This mapping exercise was presented at Doug Garofalo's 2007 SCAPE workshop as a tongue-in-cheek speculation on how the German town of Lauffen am Neckar might have developed differently had its date of inception been transposed in time with respect to the Neckar River's natural meandering. While the grid deformations illustrated weren't offered as a serious projection, they did highlight the team's interest in collisions between geomorphic and human timelines.
