Census on LinkNYC

After months of almost exclusive focus on web ads, I was delighted when the Mayor’s Office asked me to bring our census messaging to the streets of New York via LinkNYC video displays. Because we were displaying messages in certain neighborhoods not cleared for animation, I created a series of subtle movements that honored the spirit, if not the letter, of the imposed limitations.

To any New Yorkers who look at this video and say, Hey! That’s Harlem, not East New York—you are quite correct. There was a glitch the morning I went to tour my work. It was fixed quickly, but not while I was still out filming. C’est la vie.
